If your moms amaze you in their multi-tasking skills, I bet this mom, who is still working as an Uber Driver will touch your heart.
Nanay Leticia, 63-year-old, happens to be the driver of Francis Samonte, chairman of the Toyota Auto Club of the Philippines. He shared his story in his ride with nanay Leticia:
“Upon finishing my medical checkup at the Manila Doctors Hospital, I decided to avail the service of an Uber. When I looked at the app, I saw that an elderly woman named Leticia was the driver. I first thought maybe it was just the photograph, but when I got into the vehicle, it was indeed a woman of retirement age already (63).
I asked: “Nay, bakit nagmamaneho ka pa ng Uber?” She answered: “Kailangan kasi. Yung anak ko walang trabaho at ito lang ang alam ko na hanapbuhay.” I told her that she should be retired already. She said she couldn’t stop since she had no savings.
It’s sad that many of the elderly people in our country still have to work to survive, and it’s even more disappointing that young and abled people are still dependent on them.
I missed my mom. Most mothers like Nanay Leticia would do anything for their children, just for the latter to survive.
Love God, love your work, love your children, and of course love your parents, because they would do anything for you.
I gave Nanay Leticia a bonus for the day. She did not want to accept it but I insisted; she was even teary-eyed. I wished her all the best. I will continue to pray for her. Five stars for Nanay Leticia!”
It turns out that she was an ex-UV Express Driver until her van got sold and is now working for Uber. Thought she faces many challenges as a Senior-Citizen female driver where she gets many cancellations, she still strives hard for her sons.
Indeed, nothing can beat a Mother’s love.
