Some stranded, unpaid OFWs in KSA have turned to trash for food; Duterte sends P500M assistance

PH government provided P500M assistance to stranded OFWs in KSA Some stranded OFWs in Saudi have resorted to eating trash foods Affected OFWs has been waiting for 2-6 months for unpaid salaries The Philippine government under the leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte have sent help to more or less 11,000 stranded Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia As per reports, some of these OFWs have even resorted to eating trash foods from a grocery store after being removed from job, and have been waiting for their pay for about 2 to 6 months. The team sent by president arrived with a total of P500-million aid wherein each affected OFW will be receiving P20,000 plus P6,000 for a trip to go back to the Philippines. According to Arab News the team is comprised of the new TESDA chief Atty Guiling Mamonding, Labor Sec. Silvestre Bello and Acts-OFW partylist congressman John Bertiz. As a representative of the Philippine government, Bello said that they want to know the real status of the OFWs.
