Budget Secretary Diokno: No Pay Hike for Cops in 2017 Budget. MUST READ!

New Secretary for Department of Budget and Management Benjamin Diokno has obliterated the hopes of the police and military force in Duterte’s promise of pay hike, saying that there will be no pay hike for them in 2017 budget.

It can be recalled that one of Duterte’s platforms is to get cops and soldiers twice the amount of their current salary, to encourage them not to engage in illegal activities that can tarnish their records.
This pay hike aims to lead away the police and military force from taking bribes, and to boost their morale so they can work effectively in the anti-drug campaign.

Although the budget had an 11.6% increase in the 2017 budget, there would no enough budget to implement the pay hike for the next year.
However, Diokno announced that cops and soldiers are now included in the salary standardization opposing its non-inclusion during the term of former President Benigno Aquino III.
Meanwhile, cops and soldiers are still looking forward to a pay hike be it on next year or not.
