LOOK: Japan Sends Enormous Rescue Ship to Coast Guard.

PH and Japan’s relationship continues to get stronger as Japan International Cooperation Agency will finally turn over the “BRP Tubbataha” rescue ship, on September 1.

This BRP Tubbataha is an MRRV-4401 and will help the Philippines in its “various search and rescue and maritime security and law enforcement operations”.
Although the final turnover will take place in September 1, the ship will leave Yokohama on August 11 and is to arrive in Manila Port on August 18.

The vessel is 44-meters in length and was constructed at the Japan Marine United Corporation Yokohama Shipyard. The Philippine Coast Guards earlier expressed their utmost gratitude as the ship would be of great help in their operations. Some of its features are fire monitors, night vision camera, radio direction finder, a work boat and a bulletproof navigational bridge.
The full description of the ship is as follows:
“The length of the vessel is 44 meters while its breadth is reported to be 7.5 meters and the depth is 4 meters. The maximum speed of the vessel is approximately 25 knots and its cruising range is 1,500 nautical miles. Its capacity is up to 25 persons.”
This is in accordance of further strengthening the Declaration for a Strengthened Strategic Partnership and its Action Plan which was signed by both Japan and PH back in June 2015.
Earlier, there had been a Japanese Coast Guard vessel docked at the South Harbor of Manila for the joint exercise with PCG.
