President Duterte orders to stop addressing him as “His Excellency”

• In a memorandum, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered all government offices to address him as President only, less the term “His Excellency,” in all official communications • He also wants all Cabinet members to be addressed as “Secretary” only, without the term “Honorable” • All government offices, in their discretion, may still use the term “Honorable” in addressing their respective heads of office in their internal communications and documents President Rodrigo Duterte, in a memorandum, directed all Departments, Bureaus, Cabinet members and other heads of government agencies, as well as government-owned and controlled corporations, financial institutions and other government instrumentalities to refrain from addressing him as “His Excellency.” He said he wants to be addressed as President Rodrigo Roa Duterte only, without the term “his Excellency, in all official communications. A copy of the memorandum from the President which was obtained and shared by ABS-CBN News also showed that the president wants all Cabinet members addressed as “Secretary” only, without the term “Honorable,” in all official communications submitted to the Office of the President.
