The ruling over the South China Sea had been released by the International Tribunal a few days ago. The results favored the Philippines saying that China's claims have no legal basis. President Rodrigo Duterte wanted to push through with the bilateral talks after the ruling was made to officially end the dispute and settle.
However, China still questions the legitimacy of the ruling by the International Tribunal. Perfecto Yasay Jr., the secretary of Foreign affairs said the bilateral talks being proposed by China had been denied. Officials of Beijing wanted to settle without accepting the ruling.
Duterte taunted China's exclaims in jest, saying:
He said.
He said that the Philippines had all the resources that we needed, China can claim whatever it wanted.
