The fight to permanently eradicate the menace of the society, drugs had began and we are being promised that whatever is achieved now is just the beginning.
Despite the thousands of drug suspects that recently surrendered in the early days of Duterte's term, many still question the credibility of our Philippine National Police (PNP) officials in executing the anti-drug campaign without any statal prejudice and bias favoring those who have power and money.
"Tama 'yung palagi tayong kini-criticize na kung mamamatay ba 'yung street pushers lang daw. Ngayon ito na, nakita ninyo, malaking drug lord—patay rin, 'di ba?" PNP Chief Director General Bato Dela Rosa said in response to the criticisms saying they weren't targeting the big-time drug lords.
"Huwag kayong magmadali at marami pa tayong mapapatay diyan na high-value target. Hintayin lang ninyo." he said.
Meco Tan was the very first big-time drug-lord they have caught, however due to his attempt to escape in the operation conducted by the PNP to arrest them in their den in Valenzuela, he have been killed.
"Very big, very big. He must be operating here in the Philippines around eight years already. He was responsible for that drug shabu laboratory in Metro Manila. Ngayon patuloy pa rin ang kanyang ginagawa."
Tan's previous and current transactions will still be investigated for any possible leaks and alliances that might serve as help for the PNP.
As of now, PNP Chief Dela Rosa assures us that they are to be trusted in carrying out their oath to serve the country.
