Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said they reserved October 15 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas for Manny’s possible comeback fight, the Los Angeles Times reported.
But Arum clarified that nothing was final yet and they were only
reserving the date and location in case Manny’s ever-growing commitments
permit him to lace up his gloves once again. “We have the date… just to
protect ourselves,” he said.
Pacquiao's possible opponents include WBO junior-welterweight champion Terence Crawford and unbeaten WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman.
Arum added that they were definitely considering Manny’s rival, Floyd Mayweather Jr.,
but a megabout between the two boxing superstars was still a long shot
for now. “Definitely not Mayweather. We’ve been told he’s not ready to
fight yet. Otherwise, of course, we’d consider that,” noted the Hall of
Fame promoter.
Pacquiao fought Mayweather in May 2015 in what was the most lucrative fight
in boxing history. Although he lost, Pacquiao redeemed himself by
convincingly defeating Timothy Bradley Jr. in their third outing last
April 9.
Both superstars have since retired from the sport with Manny investing his time in Philippine politics.
