In response to the upsurge of drug pushers and users who have turned themselves in to the authorities, TESDA Secretary Atty. Guiling Mamondiong said they are opening their doors to those who want to earn a living the legal way. In a press statement on the TESDA website, Mamondiang said their agency’s training centers will provide skills and vocational training to dissuade drug dealers and dependents from going back to their old ways. “This is in response to reports of convicts and inmates who resort to their old trades after serving time in jail because they have no other means of livelihood,” he said. “TESDA will take the lead in this endeavor, in cooperation with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), I will task all Regional and Provincial Directors of TESDA to coordinate with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and DILG to put this activity in motion.” [...]
