25,000 involved in illegal drugs have surrendered in Metro Manila This is through the police’s Oplan Tokhang and Double Barrel 65,000 drug users and pushers surrender nationwide More than 25,000 drug users and pushers have come out and surrendered to the police since the government started its staunch campaign against illegal drugs. According to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, there have been 25,230 drug pushers who have surrendered to the authorities through their Oplan Tokhang and Double Barrel operations. Tokhang means Toktok-Hangyo or Knock and Plead in Visayan language. Authorities literally go from house-to-house to ask those who are involved in drug use to surrender. Double Barrel, on the other hand, is the operation versus drug lords and pushers. “We are seeing a remarkable reduction of street crimes, particularly crimes against property, region-wide,” PhilStar quoted Albayalde. Meanwhile, Philippine National Police Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said that there have been over 65,000 drugs users who surrendered since the launch of their campaign nationwide. “We were surprised by the sudden influx of surrenderees.
