// It is very heartwarming to hear things wherein hardwork has finally paid off, and that is what happened to a Mindanaoan who brought home the title of "topnotcher" in thd Mechanical Engineering Board Exam who happens to be a son of a "habal-habal" driver. The father's hardwork has surely paid off for the honor his son has brought forth under his name.
Elso Lumbao Elumbaring Jr., the topnotcher from Pinaring, Sultan Kudarat has graduated from the Notre Dame University in Cotabato, has ranked no. 1 with a total of 90.15 percent grade on the results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) from the recent board exam for Mechanical Engineering. He results were posted last October 7, 2016. Elso's father is a habal-habal driver, a means of transportation around the Visayan and Mindanaoan regions, and he, worked so hard to be able to send his son to college and really pursued him to graduate from his studies. Passing the board exam is enough to pay-off his dues and hardwork, but Elso did not just passed, he even topped the exam! And for his father, this is more than enough and all his hardworks, he will soon reap the fruits of his labor for his son.
Meanwhile, another Mindanaoan alumna, Donato Lecera Juayang, also managed to rank third on the PRC board exam with an average of 89.35 percent.
Elso, as one of the members obviously of the impoverished families in the country for the fact that his father is only a habal-habal driver and does not earn much but still managed to send his son to college on a prestigious school to acquire god education. With a life of being merely like a chicken who digs for worms in the soil and pecks on a single opportunity, he still managed to top the board exam-- proves that poverty is not a hindrance to education. While some students here on Manila are busy partying and wasting their parents' money on superficial things but does not exchange good grades to compensate their parents hardwork, they still waste away their lives than studying better unlike Elso's father, he really made sure he will be able to pay for his father's hard work after topping the board exam, there now comes the promise of a good life.
